Turn weak zombie Davy stupid strong, stupid fast in this Blazing Fast Growth action RPG! Devour enemies, steal powers, transform, and brave a deadly dungeon to revive frozen Julia.
Stupid Never Dies launched on 21 October 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5, with the PC version available through Steam. A free First Bite Demo offers roughly the opening two hours, and its save data can carry over to the full game.[1][2]
The single-player, third-person action RPG follows Davy, a lowly zombie venturing into deadly dungeons to revive Julia, the frozen human he loves. In a ruined world dominated by monsters, his wider mission involves defeating KOM, the King of Monsters, and recovering humanity’s lost knowledge.[3]
Stealing powers and rebuilding Davy
Dungeon expeditions alternate with preparation and upgrades at a shopping-mall base. The roguelite progression increases Davy’s growth rate across repeated dives, making levelling faster as you continue. Failed expeditions still raise the experience multiplier and preserve equipment drops, though some upgrade currency is lost.[2]
Davy’s main combat systems revolve around changing what his undead body can do. Style Eat lets him consume elite monsters’ cores and acquire their powers, with 11 Styles including Werewolf, Harpy, Golem and Vampire. Body Hack replaces body parts with Overtech equipment, improving statistics and adding active and passive skills. Davy Burst temporarily transforms reality and strengthens his abilities.[4]
Developer GPTRACK50 is making its debut with the game. Its staff includes developers with Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma experience, while studio founder and producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi previously worked at Capcom. Eiichiro Sasaki directs.[5]
Editions and combat caveats
The US launch prices before tax are $49.99 for the Standard Edition and $59.99 for the Glorious Idiot Edition. The latter includes the TickTock Teddies: Nonsense Overload Pack, whose five accessories alter effects, animations or music. A physical PS5 Standard Edition is available in selected regions.[1][5]
GPTRACK50’s September demo update improved attack tracking and added an optional Combat Camera Assist after feedback about attacks failing to connect and enemies being difficult to keep visible. The studio says those changes are included in the full game.[2]
Published reviews nevertheless raise concerns about combat. GamesRadar+ reports unreliable attack connection and no lock-on targeting. RPG Site awarded the PC version 7/10, praising its art direction and atmosphere while criticising aspects of the roguelite progression.[6][7]
On PS5, the game supports offline single-player play, Remote Play and DualSense vibration. It also carries a PS5 Pro Enhanced designation, although the PlayStation Store does not specify what those enhancements involve.[3]
Reception since launch
As checked on 26 October 2026, Steam user reviews were rated “Mostly Positive”, with 77% of 127 reviews positive.[4]
CGMagazine’s Zubi Khan awarded the PC version 9/10, praising its monster transformations, build synergies, short-session gameplay and punk presentation. He initially questioned the countdown timer but ultimately found that it encouraged quick thinking and meaningful choices about which battles to fight.[8]
Vandal awarded the game 6.9/10 in its 23 October review of the PC and PS5 versions. The outlet praised its original ideas, punk personality and moments when the action comes together, but criticised the difficult opening hours, repetitive structure, excessive dialogue and systems that do not fit together cleanly.[9]
RPG Site’s criticisms also extended to unreliable soft targeting, off-screen projectiles and an upgrade pool that cannot exclude unwanted unlocks. Its reviewer, Josh Torres, found that excessive currencies and a mandatory late-game resource hunt prolonged the repetition.[7]
