A port of Dino Crisis 2 originally released on the PlayStation, enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters.
Dino Crisis 2 was released on 20 October 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Capcom’s single-player shooter returns as an enhanced port of the original PlayStation game, with up-rendering, rewind, quick saves and custom video filters.
PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can play it at launch, while a separate purchase is available without a subscription.[1] The US PlayStation Store lists it at US$9.99; a confirmed UK launch price was not available in the sources consulted.[2]
A more action-focused dinosaur rescue
Developed and published by Capcom, Dino Crisis 2 is a third-person adventure with a stronger emphasis on arcade combat than its survival-horror predecessor, as described in GameSpot’s review of the original release.[3] Players switch between returning protagonist Regina and newcomer Dylan Morton at set points, using their different abilities to progress.[3]
The rescue mission takes Regina to the area around Edward City, which has been transported into the age of dinosaurs along with its inhabitants. The catastrophe follows continued research into Third Energy, and the team travels through an experimental time gate to recover survivors and research data.[2] Dylan joins Regina on the mission and has a strange connection to the events.
Combat rewards dinosaur kills with points, with rapid successive kills increasing the payout. Computer terminals let players spend those earnings on weapons, ammunition and healing supplies. Characters can also move while firing and use certain weapon combinations simultaneously, according to GameSpot’s account of the original game’s mechanics.[3]
The journey takes in Cretaceous jungles, caves and lakes, with more than 10 dinosaur species and a larger arsenal than the first Dino Crisis.[1]
Reception since launch
Game Critix awarded the PS5 and PS4 rerelease 4.5/5 in its 21 October review, praising its fast pacing, rewarding Extinction Point progression, weapon variety and varied encounters.[4] Its reservations concerned the reduced horror, dated presentation and older exploration structure; the review did not provide a detailed assessment of the port’s technical performance.[4]
As of 26 October, the PlayStation Store showed a global player rating of 4.87/5 from 1,063 ratings for the rerelease. This is a store player rating, not a critic score or a player-count milestone.[5]
For historical context, Metacritic lists the original PlayStation version at 86/100 from 13 critic reviews. That figure is not a review aggregate for the new PS5 and PS4 port.[6]
Console features and language support
This is a rerelease rather than a remake or a newly developed sequel.[5] Its rewind and quick-save options provide ways to revisit mistakes or preserve progress, while custom video filters and up-rendering are included in the conversion.
The store lists English voice acting, with screen languages available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. Cloud streaming on PS5 and PlayStation Portal requires PlayStation Plus Premium.[5]
